Last week....

I am confined to the front room of our house today, and probably for most of the week as the temperatures soar to new heights! Bring on the fall please. Anyhow I thought I could update you on this last week…

Monday I got together with a mom of one of my kindergarten students last year. She had a baby boy about a month after me. I got to her house and she had a starbucks latte waiting for me, what a treat! Anyhow we went on a walk with the boys and just talked about mommyhood. It was really relaxing and fun.

Tuesday, I went on two walks with friends and the biggest loser premiered…I was completely thrilled, there is something about that show that I absolutely love! I was trying to convince Scott to gain 400lbs with me so we could go on the show and loose it all. Haha, just kidding, but I would like to be on the show!

Wednesday I went to the first day of the ladies morning bible study at our church. I am really excited about it; we are studying 2 Peter and Jude. I don’t think I have ever even read Jude. I was a bit late though trying to get out the door by 9, I woke up at 6 made Scott’s lunch, worked out, took a shower, threw some clothes on the boy, fed the boy and headed out the door. So I dropped Liam off in the nursery and headed to the bible study. I scanned the room, saw my friend Brenda and even though I was late marched confidently up to the second row to sit by her. You can imagine my horror when I realized it wasn’t her. Oh well I went and sat in the middle of complete strangers feeling kind of dumb. My small group was hysterical…there were two older ladies who honestly cracked me up to no end. One was telling us how she loved to read “romance” novels and how recently she has been reading Christian romance novels. She said, “Those are better, in those ones they don’t strip off their clothes.” Ha! I thought I was going to fall on the floor laughing!

Thursday I got to stay home all day, it was really nice and I still took a shower and did my hair! (I was proud of myself!) I cleaned, went on a little walk on my own with Liam in the baby bjorn. I walked over to the pharmacy and picked up some eye drops our pediatrician prescribed for Liam’s goopy eye. It has been goopy for about 2 weeks but it is all cleared up now.

Thursday night high school group started again, Scott and I are both small group leaders. Anyways we walked around and watched high schoolers race on motorized toilets, fight in sumo suits, and spar one another….very entertaining.

Friday we hung out with friends, talked about pregnancies, birth, kids, etc…all kinds of new conversations.

Saturday we had some friends over for dinner that had a baby boy the week before us. We ate some burgers and played Clue…I haven’t played clue in AGES! Scott was hysterical. He was so sure he knew who the murderer was etc…he kept thinking people were lying about their cards. I really wish I knew what his strategy was. I think he was a little confused as to how to play the game.

Sunday was church; as I was dropping Liam off in the nursery I saw a sign saying they needed two workers. Scott and I decided to fill in, it was a fun morning holding babies, putting babies in swings, and chatting with the other nursery workers. Pastor Kent finished preaching on the book of Titus.

So that was our week in a nutshell, it was a fast and furious one. I am so thankful for Scott who works so hard everyday for us. He will be embarrassed but, he is the number one operating SSR in his group! Yay…if they decided to layoff hopefully someone else will be on the chopping block first. The Lord continues to prosper him at UPS and give him lots of ministry opportunities. Pray for him as he hears and sees very worldly things in San Francisco.

Today (Monday) I was talking with Liam as I ironed Scott’s clothes for the week (he was sitting in his Bumbo, see pictures). Anyways I was singing the days of the week to him and telling him that usually people don’t like Monday’s because they have to go back to work. But I was telling him how God ordained work and work is a good thing so we should like Mondays. I was really preaching to myself, because I didn’t want to iron. He cooed happily at me pretending like he understands….it is a lot of fun having a kid to chatter away at.

"Rubber Duckie your the one....you make my bathtime so much fun"

In my bumbo! Kinda looks like a toilet.

Cute little stinker

Hello Family and Friends! I am going to try to be a faithful blogger. Now that Liam is here I know it is important to keep you updated via photos and videos…so hopefully this will work! I apologize in advance for my dorky voice on the videos. In all honesty, they are kinda embarrassing but Liam is cute in them. So you might be wondering what life is like now with a baby and a house so I thought I would give you a rundown…feel free to skip to the pictures if you don’t want to read my rambling….that is typically what I do on other people’s blogs

A day in the life of The Johnson Family:

7:00-10:00 Liam typically wakes up and I stumble to put on a pot of coffee. Then turn on, “My Friends” as I lovingly refer to Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieria, Al Roker, and Ann Curry on the Today show. Feed and play with the baby…the first hour is his golden hour and he coos and smiles away. Around 8 he starts getting fussy and I put him back down for a nap, while I exercise and get ready for the day.

10:00-4:00 When Liam gets up from his morning nap we have our “Jesus time” (yes I have gotten really good at the silly baby talk). I remind him daily this is the most important part of our day! We are reading through Proverbs together, I usually remind him what we learned the previous day and are working on. Yesterday we learned about how the wise man loves to be corrected, that is something I have been praying for Liam as I know it is not my strong point! Today I found a good one that convicted me and made me laugh in Proverbs 11:22 “As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.” There is one for the bathroom mirror! Then we pray for Scott, family, and friends. One neat thing during this time is that I read out loud and pray out loud…Liam becomes very verbal too…cooing away, I love the little sounds he makes.

Then we play, he swings, or sits in his bouncer while I pickup and clean the house.

At 2 I put him in our front room for his nap, it is the darkest and coolest room in the house (we don’t have A.C.). Yay! Now I get time to finish up cleaning, get on the computer, and if it was a night without much sleep I go down for a nap too!

4:00-7:30 Scott comes home around 5:30/6 and gives me a kiss first (because I am most important.) then sweeps Liam up and plays/takes a cat nap/changes a diaper. Can I just brag at what a great dad he is? He is really great with Liam and provides me with lots of relief when he is home. After dinner we give Liam a bath, feed him, and put him down. Unfortunately 4-bedtime is usually Liam’s most fussy time so poor Scott sees him during these hours unless it is the weekend.

That is typically our day, not always the same times but usually the same order of events. Liam is bringing us so much joy, we can’t believe the Lord blessed us with him but are ever so thankful!
